Grasshoppers Academy Style Program

  • Player pool that typically exceeds the roster size of a normal team
  • All players in the pool have exceptional ability and bring unique qualities to the pool of players
  • Rosters rotate for games and tournaments so that players get the opportunity to play different roles and positions within the different groups rostered for each game/tournament
  • Roster size for 7v7 league games and tournaments is 9-10, and for 9v9 league games and tournaments 11-12. League games are typically smaller rosters than tournaments.
  • All players play more games than nearly all competing teams/clubs, which is what they enjoy most and also helps in their development
  • Flexibility to have players excelling at one age group to potentially train or play games with the next age group up
  • Helps to create a professional training environment
  • Allows players to receive coaching from different coaches, as each pool of players has more than one highly qualified and experienced coach
  • Creates a strong club culture where players in each age group and across age groups know and support each other
  • Allows more experienced coaches to mentor those with less experience, which bringing a different perspective to each age group/pool of players
  • With the pending age group change, it prepares Grasshoppers FC for the effects of that shift and reduces the need to add significant numbers of non-Grasshopper players when the age group shift occurs in the fall of 2026
