Grasshoppers FC Announces Formation of 2018 Girls Team
Grasshoppers FC Excited to Announce Formation of 2018 Girls Team... Because Girls Deserve Better Too!
We are excited to announce that Grasshoppers FC will be adding a 2018 Girls team to the list of age groups we proudly serve!
Grasshoppers FC is expanding — and we’re proud to officially launch our 2018 Girls Team starting Fall 2025, with tryouts set for May 6, 7, and 9!
We believe that younger age groups—both girls and boys—have been historically underserved, and we’re committed to changing that. Girls deserve the same access to quality coaching, top-notch training environments, and opportunities to grow and bond with their teammates. What makes this announcement even more exciting is that Kyle Hamrick will be leading the 2018 girls team. Kyle is not only a current Grasshoppers parent, but he also brings a wealth of soccer knowledge and passion for helping young athletes develop.
Coach Kyle believes that young players grow best when supported by their coaches, families, and teammates; when small victories are celebrated; when effort is valued over outcome; and when they develop the courage not only to strive for success but also to embrace and learn from failure. His coaching priorities include skill development, game understanding, confidence building, and character growth.
Kyle’s soccer coaching journey began in 2002 as an assistant boys' soccer coach at his alma mater in Cincinnati. Since then, he has spent 16 years coaching at both the club and high school levels. In 2009, he joined Worthington United (later Worthington Crew Juniors) in the Columbus area. Most recently, Kyle served as the Boys' Head Coach at Olentangy High School for seven seasons. Under his leadership, the team earned two District Runner-Up finishes, two District Championships, one OCC Championship, one Regional Championship, and twice held the #1 seed in the Division I Boys' Soccer Tournament. His final match at Olentangy was a 2–1 overtime loss in the 2024 Division I State Semifinals.
With over 22 years of experience working with youth — primarily through soccer — Kyle brings a deep understanding of athletic development and mentorship. He currently serves as a middle school physical education teacher in Westerville City Schools. In addition, he has also has experience as an Interscholastic Athletic Director at a private 7–12 school.
Younger players deserve more than orange slices and chaos. They deserve real coaching. Real connection. Real development. That’s what we’re building.
If you’ve been waiting for something better — for your daughter, your family, your community — this is it. We’re just getting started.
